Snow Day January 2023

After several weeks of winter storm warnings, we finally got hit with a few inches of snow.

We had to take advantage of this amazing snow. So we got bundled up and played in the backyard.

This was the first time that my daughter did a good job in the snow. She usually just sits there and doesn’t know what do to.

This time she walked around and had some good giggles.

However, just like with our businesses, there are positive and amazing experience, but also some not-so-glamorous moments.

Once we were done playing, it was time for me to clear off our driveway before the snow built up too much.

While doing the manual labor, it led me to a few thoughts about how accounting is like snow.

Stay with me for a moment.

In our businesses, accounting can lead to some really positive insights. For example, if you are tracking the profitability for your tours, you can see which tour is the star player with the highest profit.

Unfortunately, there is some work that goes into getting that amazing insight.

Snow is very similar; You get to play around and have a shining moment but sooner or later, there will be some work that needs to happen.

Additionally, while shoveling snow, it reminded me that each business had slightly different needs. Just like with accounting, the frequency and severity of the snowfall means that you might need different tools.

For me, it was just taking a shovel and some ice melt. For others, it might mean using a snow blower, or it might even mean paying a professional to take care of it for you.

Accounting is just like this, different business types require different tools and effort to get the job done.

Working with the right professional can keep your snow shoveling and accounting needs taken care of.

If you need help with your accounting, or shoveling your driveway, schedule a call to see what tools you should be using.
